Sommario
Benvenuti. Queste
pagine vogliono descrivere, sommariamente, parte del famoso itinerario
francese lungo la valle del fiume Loira. L’itinerario seguito da
quattro bojanen (tre torinesi ed un eporediese) ha escluso
l’utilizzo dell'automobile ed ha avuto inizio dalla città di Torino.
L’ideale meta di un viaggio del genere è l’estuario di St. Nazaire
ma vedremo che i quattro prenderanno una variante a Nantes.

Welcome.The
aim of this pages is to describe, in a summary, part of the famous
french trail along the Loire river valley.
The trail followed by four Italians has excluded the use of any
car and started from the town of Turin.
The ideal goal of a travel like this is the Loire matting in St.
Nazaire but we’ll see that the fours will take a deviation in Nantes.

dal giorno 2 al giorno 17 agosto 2008. I chilometri
percorsi in bici dai quattro sono stati circa 850.

tour has been done from august 2th, 2008 to 17th. The kilometers
done by the fours by bicycle has been about 850.

How to equip the bicycle
Le biciclette
usate dai quattro non erano proprio il massimo per il cicloturismo
trattandosi di mountain bike adattate. E va anche detto che il peso
si poteva distribuire molto meglio, infatti non andrebbe concentrato
tutto sulla ruota posteriore.

The bicycles
used for the trail were not the best for a cyclotour, in fact they
were all mountain bikes. And we must say also that the weigth of
the bags shold not be concentrated on the rear.
Le
ferrovie francesi consentono il trasporto della bici solo con l'apposita
sacca. Preparatevi quindi a smontare e rimontare le ruote ed anche
il portapacchi se la vostra borsa è piccola.

French railways
allow carrying the bicycle with the specific bag. Prepare yourself
to unmount and mount the wheels and also the luggage-carrier if
your bike-bag is small.

bici anche incustodita! Nelle grandi città sarà bene fare come in
Italia ed usare il lucchetto...

Dovendo trasportare
in treno la bici con l’apposita sacca questa graverà purtroppo sul
viaggio come peso morto (la nostra è circa 800 g). Sono state allo studio… soluzioni di spedizione per
posta poi non adottate.

Having to transport
on the train the bicycle into his sack, that will grave on the travel
as a death weigth (our bag was about 800 g). Has been under study some shipping solutions, never
adopted.

from which town
Considerando
che l’itinerario potrebbe iniziare e terminare a St. Nazaire se
non si hanno a disposizione più di due settimane bisogna partire
da una città intermedia dell’itinerario. I quattro hanno scelto
di partire dalla città di Orléans con tappa a Parigi.

Considering that the trail may began from Briare (or even before)
and end in St. Nazaire if you don't have more than two weeks you
must start from an intermediate town on the river. The fours decided
to start from the town of Orléans passing from Paris.

to reach Paris with a bicycle
Per raggiungere
la Loira da Torino,
la città da raggiungere è ovviamente Parigi in treno. E la bici?
Come anticipato il TGV consente il trasporto delle biciclette
a patto di inserirle in una sacca. Trovatevi alla stazione con un
certo anticipo perché caricare le bici nei vani portabagagli non
sarà un gioco da ragazzi…

To reach the
Loire Valley from Turin, the town to reach is Paris with railway. And the bike? As wrote before the TGV allows to
carry the bike only inside a bike-bag. Being at the train station
with a certain time before the train start will be plus. Carrying
the bikes on the baggage vans will not be so easy…
